U & I!

It's been a while since I've written, and I'm sorry for that! I've been busy creating for some outside projects.  I'd like to say that took up all of my time, but I'd be lying to myself, and you, if I did.  It's the end of my son's March Break, and while he was enjoying quality time with his grandparents, I was enjoying quiet time at home.  It was bliss!

Lately, I've been super drawn to creating watercolour roses.  I don't know what it is...but every time that paint brush gets in my hand, a rose comes from the bristles.  So, I turned them into letters.  Not just any letters, but specifically, "U & I".  The perfect sentiment for the perfect flower.

Hand painted watercolour roses in varying shades of this years' hottest pink/rose tones fill the letter shapes and add that romantic touch to your banners, tables or walls. This trio is soft, romantic and fits into your rustic or vintage theme.

You can get your set here, all three images for only $15.  Now, that's affordable decor!

Click on the link and get your copy today, and don't forget to tell your friends where they can get theirs.

You'll get a file with 3 PDF files in it.. a "U", an "&" and an "I", all fit to a regular sized piece of paper, so you can frame them, or trim them, or fold them...you get the idea.

I'd love to see what you've done with yours..so remember to tag me @kathynickollettering in your Instagram posts!

Bloom where You are Planted

Sounds like advice for a weed, doesn't it?

Well, it's not.  Unless you're one.  A weed that is.  Then you must only be a good weed, because bad weeds aren't allowed.

Anyway, before I get into a post about gardening (and how I've totally lost interest in it), let's talk about spring.  It's coming you know.  Though, in Southwestern Ontario, you'd think it was already here.  It's been around 15 degrees Celsius the last week or so, and spring is on everyone's mind.  Albeit prematurely.  It is only February, you know. We've been walking around without jackets, wearing running shoes, and generally having a good time of it. Who likes winter, anyway??!! (not me, I'm a bad Canadian).

In the spirit of spring, and all that it gives, I thought I'd share with you another printable that I made up for you!  It's full of watercolour florals to put you in the spring time mood, and lettered with the quote "Bloom where You are Planted".

All the artwork and lettering is my own..and I'm really proud to put this out there for you!  Have a look...I love it, and I hope you do, too! It can be purchased for $5.75 CAN by clicking this link . Once you have made your purchase, it should send you the link for download. If you have any difficulties, please message me!

Thanks so much for all of your support, I really do appreciate it.

It's that time of year!

If you've been following my Facebook or Instagram accounts, you've seen that lettering has lead me to card making.  And why not? I mean..all those fancy letters and sparkly glitters and embossed sentiments... Need I go on?

Yes, yes, I need. To go on, that is.

I got this adorable stamp set from Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps called "Treat Yours-ELF" and couldn't help but paint some up with my Tombow Dual Brush pens. Since I painted them all the same, the challenge has been to come up with a different card for each elf...each time I made a card.  You've seen the swinging elf already (if not, read about him here), but he's got a little friend who just can't wait to give you her gift.

So, without further ado, I bring you elves on cards ..(which are also available in my shop ;))

This little girl is hoping you'll love her little gift, standing on a glittery tag, on a background of plaid stripes and stencilled, hand blended ink dots. She's sure to brighten anyone's holiday!

And this guy is swinging into the holidays on a golden Christmas ball, hanging from a hand painted watercolour Christmas tree background.  His greetings for the season are all polished up for you in gold embossed hand lettering.

If either of these cards strike your fancy, get them before someone else snags them up.  You can find my shop on my Facebook page, or above, in the Shop tab!

Swinging Elves??!!??! Oh my...

Tee hee!!

You didn't really think that you'd see swinging elves here, did you?!?! Get your mind outta the gutter! LOL!!

This little elf swings on a Christmas ornament from his modern day "tree" of alcohol ink splatters.  He's also shining up the holidays with his gold star, the gold on his ornament and the hot pink sparkly paper that frames him. A little glitter on the sentiment, and he's on his way to making someone's holiday a shiny, happy one.

This card is hand painted, hand stamped and totally hand made in non-traditional colours of hot pink and teal. It's also available for purchase from my shop.

Get him before his disappears!

So, what did I use to colour my elf? Here's a list...

Tombow Dual Brush Pens #847, 703, 743, 451, 533, 443, 476, 993, 992, 977, 458, 177, 098
Artists Loft Watercolour Pencil: Pink, white
Jacquard Lumiere paints: 562 Metallic Olive
Artists Loft Liquid Watercolour: Metallic Gold
Folk Art Extreme Glitter acrylic paint
MomentoLUXE: Tuxedo Black

The papers are what I have on hand, from past paper realeases, found at WalMart and local dollar stores.
